The idea of manufacturing wooden handles was born at Dubinskas’ company Melita, which was incorporated in 1989 and has been successful in manufacturing turned decorative details for staircases, furniture and other interior details for over 20 years.
Over more than a decade ago, the Company’s owner Zigmantas Gedmundas Dubinskas noticed that not a single shop dealing in door and window handles could offer wooden handles with a functioning latch mechanism. This gave him the idea of trying to work out a wooden handle which would show no metal details when fitted on a door or a window. To accomplish his idea, the inventor and designer Z. G. Dubinskas had to make several inventions, one of which has already been patented, the others are awaiting patent. The design of the new handles has also been registered. Thus, the new wooden handles with a working latch are unique and there is nothing comparable on the market.
Now Dubinskas thinks it is time to spin off his wooden handles business. On the basis of the new patented production process and its predecessor‘s long-standing expertise in wood processing, the new company UAB ZGD Handles will be dedicated to the manufacture of top quality wooden handles and fittings.
